Asus MyPal A636

Pocketnow has reviewed the Asus MyPal A636. This device is based on Windows MObile 5 and offers an integrated GPS receiver. It has a 3.5 inch touch screen display, much like most of the typical automotive GPS systems on the market. GPS navigation is based on the Destinator software platform. It also comes with the SiRF Star III chipset.

They liked the quality of the receiver, Bluetooth implementation, battery life, windshield mount, and USB options. They didn’t care so much for the lack of dedicated soft-keys, no audio out port on the car mount, proprietary sync cable, and no traffic support. Overall they gave it a four out of five rating.

Overall, the Asus A636 is an excellent multi-use device for in-car navigation. While the form factor isn’t exactly innovative, the large screen is good for viewing maps while driving. A VGA screen would have been nicer, but would have also made the price prohibitive and the battery life dism
