Back to English with TomTom
So you’ve got that brand new shiny TomTom, turned it on, and …. OOPS! … somehow you’ve selected the wrong language. Suddenly the entire interface is (literally) in some foreign language and you can’t figure out how to get back to English. This has happened to quite a few people recently, so here is a short tutorial on how to get back to US English.
If the device is currently turned on and you are anywhere but the primary map/driving view, it might be helpful to turn the device off. Then you can turn it back on to get yourself to the map/driving view. Now click anywhere on the map to take you to the Main Menu. Depending on the language you picked and your device, it should look something like the image on the right. Click on the wrench icon (highlighted in red here) which will take you to the ‘Change Preferences’ menu.
Now that you are in the Change Preferences menu, keep tapping on the right arrow button to cycle through the menu until you see an icon with three flags on it. That is the ‘Change Language’ button. Click on that button to bring up a list of the languages installed on your device.
Use the arrow keys up and down to find your language, likely ‘English US’ for most readers of this site. A dialog will appear asking “English US?” at which point you will say ‘Yes’. Presto, change-o, you are back in business!
