From the Forums Friday 2008-04-04
Friday keeps coming around faster and faster each week.
Either that or the forums keep getting busier and busier. Here is the best from this week!
- GPS for ballooning? Yep, we can talk about that!
- Want to know Where to get AAA quarterly updates for your Maestro? If you are a AAA member you can download them right from AAA. We’ve covered this before, but it is worth repeating.
- This conversation has been going on for several months now, but a member wants to know Why does everybody use “3D” maps when driving? It is a long thread, but there is some good discussion about why different people prefer different types of map views.
- A whole lot of stuff that broke with the 7.480 firmware update from TomTom have been fixed since the New firmware 7.481 was released. Even people who had hacked {caugh} altered their 720s to enable Voice recognition got it back.
- Radio Shack is telling some customers that the Tom Tom one XL-S has been discontinued. Only fueled by the fact that the tomtom.com website lists the ONE 3rd Edition and XL-S as “not available at tomtom.com” right now. We shall see!
- Magellan users are still having trouble contacting tech support and their emails are being bounced back.
- Another thread that has been going on for several months, users band together to talk about Harmon Kardon gps-810 issues.
- A reader tells us “Have my iPAQ310 for three days and loving it…
“. Speaking of the iPAQ, see what happens when I lend my own iPAQ (a fairly complicated GPS) to a forum member who is primarily a Nuvi user. He shares and review. - Probably worth sticking at the top rather than the bottom of the list, but NAVIGON users take note, you might be getting a FREE Map Update!
