I have an old nuvi 360 and just upgraded to a nuvi 1690 and would like to transfer “my favorites from my old nuvi 360 to the nuvi 1690. I have found the instruction on the myGarmin site but my nuvi 360 does not have a GPX fold. Can anyone help me through this problem?

I am looking to buy a GPS for my sports car. It will be used 70% as a handsfree to my cell phone and 30% as a navigator, so I would like to be sure it has voice dailing, Like say HOME and it dials my home number. it should also be able to save at least a dozen frequently called numbers. One other thing although not a deal breaker can it play through my car radio.
Does anyone have a list of the models best suited for me.

Thanks in advance

I have a new Garmin eTrex Legend H. I cannot find the Marine Navigation Aids anywhere on the map. The marine settings are set to on. Tried getting help from Garmin tech support. But they had no information. They said it was a mistake in advertising. If so why would the settings be there in the setup menu?

I am having problems with the Garmin 1490T.

First, The Garmin 1490T has a feature called “Trip Log”. The trip log leaves a trail along the path you have driven. Whenever I try to clear the trip log it will not clear. Also, the trip log trail does not always follow the vehicle icon when activated. If the Garmin 1490T has to recalculate, the trip log trail runs in a straight line from the recalculation point to wherever your current position is on the screen.

Another problem I am experiencing is a message that appears on the Garmin 1490T stating "Traffic Receiver requires the power cord". This message is supposed to display whenever you try to use the Traffic Receiver and the power cord is not connected. My problem is even when I am connected to the power cord this message will continue to display over and over and over. The message covers the entire screen so I can not see the main screen. It reminds of Internet pop up ads or Spam. When you close one window another instantly opens up.

Clearly this is some sort of glitch in the software. I returned the original Garmin 1490T to the retailer and was given another 1490T. That one did the exact same thing. I even connected the power cord to different outlets on my vehicle and the problem continued. I did contact Garmin and the first thing they said was to update the Garmin. With a rather expensive price tag it bothers me that I am expected to update this device brand new right out of the box. That is like buying a new Lexus and the next day you have to replace the tires.

Unfortunately, I am using an old PC running Windows 98 First Edition, so connecting the Garmin 1490T is not an option in order to update the device. Even if I performed an update that does not mean that the update will fix my problem. I do like the Garmin 1490T, but considering its price tag, I am very disappointed by these issues.

Has anyone else experienced these problems? Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Don, I'm not sure what is going on with your device, but when a destination is set it will display the next street, not the current street, on the top.

I have a nuvi 660, 750 and just bought an 855. One of the most important features of a GPS it the ability to see the name of the street I'm aproaching. Garmin elected to delete this function from the 855. It will only tell you what street you're driving on. I'm generally not looking for the stret I'm driving on. I need to know what the next street is. I think this is a terible decision from Garmin. I also can't find any way to tell what models have this feature, all previous ones I've bought have it, and which models they've deleted it from.
The nuvi is a great GPS but this lack of a very important function makes the 855 much less than valuable.

I am trying to find help with a virus I have on my Garmin nüvi 310. It is worm/Generic.QJO. AVG ver 7 tells me it is in Garmin.exe; audible.exe; screenshot.exe; jpeg.exe; and mp3.exe. To run the cure destroys the .exe files. Everything works, I may have a harmless worm? I cannot get help where I live and GARMIN does not seem to have a help line on this problem. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?
Also, it is unfair. I bought the Garmin and had fun learning how to use it. Now I find out I am too late for it to be updated, but nothing was said when I bought the GPS

Why don't GPS units show locations of "Rest Areas"? And give information like free coffee, wifi hotspots or if it is open or closed due to construction.
