Just sign up on there and talk to gdev (try to pm him)

I was just looking for the gant on Garmin Developer thread because Fedora 11 won’t compile the old ant code and all mention of the linux ant driver has been removed from their website. pretty unhelpful and has rendered my 405 totally useless.

It’s a shame, because Garmin are totally happy to take Linux for some of their products but won’t give back.

Makes one almost untrust the Garmin brand. At least they could make an statement so people knows whats going on. Some serious developers may be offended by this.

Looks like this post has disappeared now.
What is going on?
Garmin obviously don’t like gant is all I can assume.
Perhaps it’s because they will be bringing out their own Linux driver for ANT+ soon?
I hope so.
Anyone out there in the know?

I’ve downloaded and installed the gant driver and it’s working a treat on my Ubuntu Linux machines (both Hardy and Jaunty.)

I wish Garmin would support Linux officially. The ANT+ technology is so cool on the Forerunner 405 GPS watch.

It’s 3 years on now, do Garmin support Linux now?
I’d like to use the Forerunner 405 ANT+ upload facility on my Ubuntu Linux computer. Is this possible now?

Viking works with some of them. I could download waypoints from an etrex via usb/serial connector. I couldn’t download my waypoints from a streetpilot c330.

Does anyone know of any GUI open source software that works on the GPS units? Morghan mentioned that there are.

Yup, it works with wine, and there are some apps that will use a Garmin GPS unit, but actually making the software for Linux will send a message that they realize that there are other operating systems out there. It’ll sell one to me at least.
