Garmin and Kenwood Partner

Recognizing that the PND isn’t the only navigation game in town, Garmin has announced a partnership with Kenwood. Through the arrangement, Kendwood in-dash multimedia systems will now come with, or have an optional service for, a Garmin based navigation system. This wasn’t a stretch to predict as we’ve seen Kenwood systems running on kendwood in-dash systems at recent shows. (See the photo.) So to extend what they have already been doing seems a good fit.

“The alliance between Kenwood and Garmin is very unique to the consumer electronics industry,” said Keith Lehman, senior vice president of Kenwood USA Corporation. “The combination of Kenwood’s multimedia, in-car technologies and Garmin’s GPS navigation technologies has produced a remarkable line of advanced products that appeal to even the most demanding customers. With our joint promotional activity already underway, we expect 2008 to be a very successful year.”

The two companies will pair for the product as well as advertising and a website dedicated to the partnership. You will have the option of connecting to satellite radio, Bluetooth for hands-free calling, iPods, HD radio, and video.
