Garmin Mobile Goes Google

Garmin announced today that an upcoming version of Garmin Mobile, their application for smartphones, Blackberry devices, and Windows Mobile PDAs, will soon come with the ability to search Google Local. Garmin is showing off the new features at CTIA this week, although it sounds like the new features won’t be available until July.

Garmin Mobile BlackberryYou can still search the POI database of about 6 million locations, or search Google Local for a nearly unlimited amount of matches. This will also allow more “fuzzy” searching for example searching for “wifi” will show you locations that offer wi-fi instead of just locations where the search phrase is in the title.

In addition, the interface is said to change a little bit looking more “nuvi-like” according to Garmin.
