Garmin Mobile – GPS on Sprint PCS Cellular Phones

Garmin has partnered with Sprint PCS to offer GPS services on select cellular phones. Garmin Mobile is software you can download onto your cellphone that will turn your phone into a GPS navigation device. Currently about six million points of interest (POIs) are available on the service.

Detailed maps as well as turn-by-turn directions are available to any of the six million POIs. Phone numbers associated with the POI are also available. Garmin Mobile also utilizes text-to-speech software enabling the device to speak audible directions including street names.

The service also includes an online membership where you can create an account and specify certain favorite locations for future reference as well as set other preferences.

Garmin Mobile is currently compatible with the following phones.

  • Sanyo MM-5600
  • Sanyo MM-7400
  • Sanyo MM-8300

Garmin Mobile is currently available for $9.99 per month. A stripped down version, Garmin Mobile Lite is expected to be available in October for $3.99 per month. Garmin Mobile Lite does not include voice prompted directions, the extensive POI database, or the ability to set preferences with the Garmin Mobile Manager websie application.

You can view a demo of Garmin Mobile or visit the website.
