Just purchased a nuvi 255w in the States before coming to Australia, then bought Australia maps once I arrived. The maps came as one standard SD and one micro-SD. I pushed the standard SD into the slot, figuring that if it was oriented wrong, it wouldnt go. It went all the way in, but now I cant get it out. Ive tried pushing it in further and letting go, but that doesnt release it. Now Im afraid to do anything with the micro-SD. Which way does it go? At present, when I turn on the unit, it shows maps from the US and says it cant find satellite coordinates. Help please!

Make sure you are using the Garmin car adapter and not one for a cell phone or something like that. Some adapters for other devices fool the GPS into thinking it's plugged into a computer and it goes into a non-functional mode waiting for computer communications.

I have the same problem. I'd rather have the whole contry with a little less detail than completely miss parts of the country.

I have played with map install, but I'm not sure it installs all the data. I think it might leave out points of interest, like places to eat, etc.

Does anyone know for sure which data it loads?

I want to know the same, The day I bought my Nuvi 200, the dealer charged me for a cd to update but it seems not to do what it is suppose to do. How do I update and where do I find the positions of speedtraps for South Africa

I have a Nuvi 260 and am trying to charge it with the usb cable. If I connect it to the garmin, will it charge it? I dont have a read out on the screen- just a GARMIN logo and a picture of the device plugged into a tower.

I have the 255wt (4.3" screen) and it has the next turn and the direction of the turn in the upper left corner as well as the time of arrival on the lower right corner the speed of the road and the current speed on the lower left corner all on the original user page- no need to tap the screen. By tapping once on the car you also get the current location, the closest gas station, police station, and hospital

I have the same problem with my nuvi 360. If it is plugged into the cig lighter (or with a 110 converter to USB power supply, the nuvi loads the maps, gives the warning, then after I "agree," it goes into charge mode --- even if the battery is fully charged. I plan to update the nuvi software and see if that makes a difference. Please post a follow up if you found a solution.

You can get a POI listing in another city-- I don't have one with me but there is a "near" button you can use to select a different location from the POI search. To check for updates go go garmin.com/webupdater
