Can routes with via points be saved in my Garmin 260?
I try to use this method to stay away from downtown traffic which the device selects. The device memory tells me about the added routes but not with the via points I have added.

What is happening that it "doesn't work"? Is it going into computer/USB mode? Something else? If it is thinking it is attached to your computer check out our article on troubleshooting USB mode.

Carol, I don't think there is a good, or any, answer to your question. I've never seen an option to select a particular country, state, or province avoidance on a gps. You could try to select the Highways avoidance option; but, I don't know how well that will work out for you.

This is probably an interesting question to ask of the map making companies and Garmin... Can they provide a "Border Crossing" avoidance?
