  1. I am living in Zhengzhou, China and this is my first time using any GPS. Gotta tell you that I’m very pleased with my Garmin 785T. It works very well, quickly and accurately. I was totally lost here. Had to take a taxi everywhere I went and big language problem. Now, with my car and my Garmin 785T, I feel great. One of the best equipment purchases I have EVER made.

  2. Nuvi 785T is my first GPS and in getting it set up to use was not a happy time. As instructed the software and maps had to be updated. There is no CD for updates so they were done on online. The SOFTWARE UPDATE was with hi-speed DSL took approx. 30 min. (not to bad) but the MAPS UPDATE downloads for 3 plus hours and then has to be extracted and installed for another 45 minutes. A CD update would have made a much more pleasant experience. When using my cell phone mounted on the dash with the soft bag accessory, with the blue tooth option the sound had a bad echo in receiving and talking. The next call was made with the GPS setting down on the console and the incoming was pretty clear but still had some echo to the person calling me. Don’t know what that is all about. Once connected to the cell phone your cell phone is not usable. Your calls must be made through the GPS. To use the cell phone you have to turn off the GPS. That being said, the Nuvi 785 has been a pleasure and fun to use. I have not found any of the many screens available that do not perform with satisfaction. The screen is clear to view, the voice commands are easy to understand. With the prior information in mind I would recommend this GPS without reservation. I find an unexpected feature of “piece of mind” and a lot less apprehension of when to turn and etc. when at the wheel. – Chas
