Garmin VIB 10
The Garmin VIB 10 is a new “Vehicle Integration Box” from Garmin designed to operate with the StreetPilot c550. The purpose of the device is to route all audio from the c550 such as MP3 music, voice prompts, and phone calls through your car’s existing stereo system. In short, it serves a similar purpose as an FM transmitter found in some of the other Garmin devices. This device does have one notable drawback though.
The VIB 10 connects to the c550 via the pot for the traffic receiver. And the VIB does not offer any traffic services of its own so if you are a c550 owner who uses traffic services, this device might not be for you. Expect to pay about $150 for the VIB 10 when it is released in the next month or two.
I have no problems… I thought it was taking me off course when it advised me to get off the freeway… I decided to track the milage and staying on the freeway. On my way back I decided to take the route that it advised me to take off the freeway, and I saved forty (yes, I said 40) miles off of my trip. All I can say is, WOW!!!! Since I had that experience, I follow my c550’s instruction all the time!!
