Garmin Vista Quirks

Garmin has released information about some quirks users might experience when upgrading to Vista and using Garmin software. If you have Garmin software on your PC and have upgraded to Vista (or are planning on it soon) here is what you need to know.
- There is an incorrect registry permission that is resolved by installing the MapSource 6.11.6 web download from here. This will resolve the issue for MapSource as well as any other Garmin applications that are already installed such as Garmin Training Center.
- The help files will not work on Vista due to Microsoft abandoning support for the .hlp format help files. Garmin is creating help files in the new format. As soon as they are ready, an update will be made available.
- There is an issue with updating old USB drivers in some rare cases. This is a very rare occurrence according to our product support team. There is a workaround for this and you can contact [Garmin's] Product Support department.
- We are working on a new USB driver setup release that will support Windows 2000, Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit. This driver setup will work for new installations as well as upgrades of existing systems. We anticipate release during the 2nd half of February.

I have a Microsoft vista laptop and have just bought a Garmin Forerunner 305.The Training Center disc loads but then has a problem with drivers.and I cannot use.It is Version5.01 and Microsoft Windows v3.2.2. Can anyone advise please.
I have a Vista system. I just purchased the 205. The software that comes on it will not load all.
It doesn’t autorun, and it doesn’t run when I click on autorun, install, or Windows/setup.
I went to the Ga4rmin download pages, and nothing there runs either. (MS hosed a lot of people with the new OS. But this page says you expected new USB drivers to be ready in Mid-Feb. (It’s now Mid-March)
