GPS Bluetooth Phone Compatibility

This is a list of GPS devices and mobile phones with user submitted compatibility test results. Manufacturers often only test a handful of phones so this is a way to share results beyond what the manufacturers list. Note though that GPS companies will likely only officially support phones that they have tested themselves.

Hands Free - This is what most people think of when they think of Bluetooth. Being able to place and receive phone calls wirelessly using the speaker and microphone on the GPS.

POI Dialing - You can lookup a POI (Point of Interest) on the GPS and then tap an icon which will initiate a phone call to that POI through the Bluetooth connection. This is commonly supported.

Caller ID - When a call comes into your phone, the number (and sometimes the name, see contacts below) will be displayed on the screen of the GPS. This is common.

SMS Send/Receive - Sometimes a GPS can display incoming text/SMS messages on the screen and/or allow you to create new text messages to send. - Only somewhat common.

DTMF Tones - Often after placing a call to an automated system (such as voicemail) you need to key in numbers known as DTMF Tones. Some GPS devices have a virtual keypad allowing you to enter these on the screen of the GPS.

Data Services - In some cases the GPS can use the modem in your phone to receive data services such as weather and traffic from the phone's connection. TomTom PLUS services are an example. This is rarely supported.

Phone Contacts - Many GPS devices can download the phonebook from your phone and hold a copy in the GPS so you can quickly dial people or businesses by name from the GPS. This is commonly supported.

Notes - If your phone or the GPS requires a specific firmware version for example, this is a place to add any unique notes.
