GuardianLion GPS Child Locator

Dec

2005

GuardianlionA company called GuardianLion (not Guardian Lion) has announced a new GPS locator service designed for the child locator market. Using the pocket-sized GPS receiver, parents can login to the GuardianLion website and view the location of their child at any time. The devices even claim to work indoors.

You can also setup a geofence for geofencing use. In other words you can define a certain area your child is allowed to travel in. GuardianLion calls this a “safety zone” and the parent can be notified by text message to their mobile phone alterting them their child has travelled outside the safety zone (geofence).

The service plans start at $29.95 per month and the device costs $350. Let’s hope the service is a little better than their website, but it does look promising.

  1. Interesting concept. The website states it will ship 1st quarter 2008. I guess we’ll have to wait until then for more details/pics/specs.

If the watch could somehow be made to be lockable on your child’s wrist, then maybe this product will fly. But, I can see kids just wanting to take off the wrist watch. Then you’re SOL if you’re trying to make this product work for you.

  3. No, I cannot reach the company, and I ordered a watch. I am concerned that this is a scam. Does anyone have information?

  6. I don’t know what names/numbers you have tried, but here are some additional ones people might want to try. I’ve never been in contact with them (but haven’t tried either).

  7. Hey All,
I ordered five of these things and have not received them yet. My card has not been charged and I did receive an email back in February that they were backed up and should have the device out to me by the end of April. Since then I have emailed them several times and have gotten no response. Has anyone else had any luck?

  9. I ordered a watch last August and my credit card was charged. In February I heard from them after I sent an email and they indicated that watches should be mailed in the next 60 days. I have also been unable to get in touch with them since February and have not received a watch.

  10. No, I have not received the watch. All the contact information from the company does not work now, and they will not respond to the email that worked previously. I told my credit card company that it was clearly a scam, and they returned my money.
