Frankly, one of the biggest shakeups has been in the map update technology where newer designs for the process make it possible for semi-continuous map maintenace. This change in standards caused a big shakeup in map production making some of it more "proprietary" which will tend to keep the cost of updates high.

Well I finally got fed up with not being able to update my 500c and bought a garmin a while back and totally love it. Bought Lowrance originally because of ther great reputation but soon found out they have no customer service minded employees> BUY A GARMIN

It looks like Lowrance has almost been driven out by the better funded competition. They were a good small US company when they started and made competitive products, but Garmin and TomTom folks spent more on advertising and somehow kept a bigger profit margin.

I too have an Iway 350c. It works fine most of the time but the POI data and the maps are woefully out of date. I've been nosing around trying to find out if there are any 3rd party map source folks that would make up an update for the community of users still out there. So far, seems like a waste of my time tho.

I can't find a map update of any kind on their site for my 500C. Do they not have them any longer?

Looks like my 2000C airmap GPS is unable to be updated ever again. Lowrance no longer has "aviation" on their website. Only marine and outdoors is listed now. almost $1000.oo down the drain. What really chaps me is I just bought a HDS unit and a Structure Scan unit for fishing. (Cost way more than the 2000C) from Bass Pro Shops. Will they discontinue that with no notice, no way to stay current?

I'll never buy another Lowrance product. Beware! They will not support you. Buy a Garmin!

Tried to update my Lowrance 2000c (aircraft GPS) When the update would not load I was told my unit was broke. exact words. Before trying to update the unit was working. I tried twice (at 35.00) per try. I requested a credit on my card, was told it could be 2 to 3 weeks, well its been 3 weeks. I guess they need the 70.00 worse than I.
Also have a 500c still working with a software update (not map) but will never buy another Lawrence for any purpose, car, boat or plane.
I'm happy with another brand aircraft GPS.

LEI-Extras _is_ Lowrance, it's the accessories biz side.
http://www.lei-extras.com/lei.asp

This will get you to the site and the 500c accessories category:
http://www.lei-extras.com/store/search.asp?SearchType=Unit&Unit=iWAY+500C

But, as of about a month ago, they've pulled the map update. :( As I mentioned above though, it was pretty old...

Lowrance's US site was at http://www.lowrance.com, but it's now gone. The Canadian site is still up: http://www.lowrance.ca/Products/Automotive/iWAY-500C/

I have a 500c that I never really needed till now. I have never updated it and was looking wanting to. I have tried all the links posted and nothing. I cant even find a good website for Lowrance. Are they out of buisness? Will any other updates work?
