Magellan Gets Traffic RDS

Magellan announced that their RoadMate 760 and RoadMate 700 GPS receivers are now ready to use the NAVTEQ Traffic RDS service. Further, Magellan has announced that all of their vehicle navigation systems introduced this year will be compatible with the traffic system.

If you have a RoadMate 760 you can use the service right now by purchasing the Magellan TrafficKit. If you have a RoadMate 760 you can get purchase the traffic service after getting a software upgrade from the Magellan website.

“Integrating NAVTEQ real-time traffic capabilities with the proven performance of the Magellan RoadMate line provides an advanced routing solution for convenience and flexibility so customers can make informed choices and get to their destination faster without getting lost.”

The service sells for about $150 and includes a 15 month subscription.

  1. Seems like a lot of GPS systems are moving towards this traffic update concept. I hope it’s not all flash and no substance!
