Thanks Tim,

I do have it set to the correct time zone.

And on the zip code thing:
I didn't know that some zips share cities. But is does not explain how for when you input a zip code, it also displays cities with different zip codes. I realize the choices are close by, but still, not the same zip code. Alas, I've lived with it for almost two years...

remove rubber plugs from back, unscrew cover, remove battery and just use car charger for power. Or buy a replacement battery.

Ed, GPS devices derive the current time (UTC time) from the GPS satellites. (That is in fact how it determines your position... by listening to very tiny differences in the time being broadcast from the satellites and figuring distance based on the speed of light.) But what you typically do need to adjust is your timezone. I don't have one of those models anymore and I don't remember where to program in the timezone offset.

As to zip codes, there ARE cities (more likely towns) that "share" a zip code with other towns. I've lived in such an area. It is a rural area and so multiple towns share a post office and share a zip code. It can be confusing as technically there are two different "Main Street" roads in the same zip code which are not connected and not part of the same town. Rare... but it does happen.

Hello,

I bought my RM1200 for Christmas of 2007. And was just wondering...

How do you change the time? Since I bought it, It has never displayed the correct time. Now it's so far off, that it displays the "day" screen at night and the "night" screen during the day!

When I look for a location using the Zip Code, it offers me a selection of several cities. WHY?? There is not one Zip Code that shares ANY portion of two cities simultaneously. This bothers me sometimes, because sometimes all I have is the Zip and Street address. Sometimes there are 5 cities to choose from. All are very close together, but it's not cool when you're in the wrong place and late going to the right place. Anyone know why it does this?

Other than that, it's been real cool. Only twice has it ever had a problem with shutting down for reasons other than a dead battery (dang! I forgot to plug it in!).

Our Magellan 1200 just died on us this weekend. It was fully charged and running and the screen just went blank. We checked all the connections, etc. but no luck. Is this unusual?

I noticed we can not look up POI along the route. A recent trip through NY to Niagara Falls I wanted to find a reast area before entering Rt 90 and had to cancel the route to find any spots.

Local driving around town it shows eateries etc. Alerts with a utensil signal?????

My like my magellan roadmate 1200, except for my latest trip.

Why does my roadmate keep stating that it is going to power down in x seconds or press no to suspend. I am using the OEM car charger, it is lighting up, and the unit powers up, but shortly after it want to suspend itself. If I ignore it or press yes that I want to continue on battery power it will go back to navigating, and then mayber 30 seconds later it will repeat the whole event. When I examine the options, I can see an icon indicating a fully charge battery, however I do not believe this. Is there something wrong with my roadmate or is there something wrong with my adapter.

I am currently trying to charge it with a motorola ac/dc wall adapter. I get the "USB mode" message, I then shut off the unit with the power button, I am hoping that it will take a long charge and work better, but I have no idea if this will work.

Can someone comment on my problem and using a non oem ac/dc wall adapter to attempt a long charge?

Thanks
