Magellan RoadMate 800 PC World

Personal Computer World has reviewed the Magellan RoadMate 800 GPS navigation system giving it a four out of five rating. They liked the touch-screen, rechargeable battery, car mount, and cigarette power adapter. They were not so impressed with the price and that many of the “extras” were not necessary.

The software navigation itself is quick and easy to use, the display is clear and the speaker provides good audio for voice commands. [The] Magellan [RoadMate 800] has made a few tweaks to its software, including a useful 3D bird’s eye map view. Other neat touches include automatic night mode when low levels of natural light are detected, and an automatic volume increase to compensate for engine noise at speeds over 70mph.

Overall this is what they had to say about the RoadMate 800:

With great route-planning software and some interesting bells and whistles, the RoadMate 800 an excellent, if costly, sat nav device.
