Magellan RoadMate 800

It looks like Magellan has released information about the new Magellan RoadMate 800 GPS. With the new RoadMate 800 you can play music, store photos, get driving directions with 3D maps all in a GPS that is closer in size to the smaller RoadMate 360.

One fairly unique thing about the Magellan 800 is that maps of both North America and Europe come preinstalled on the internal drive. In North America only the North American maps are “unlocked” meaning that you will have purchase an unlock code to use the European maps. Still, for someone who needs to navigate on both continents, this is a little bit easier than having to load an additional set of maps on the drive yourself.

The RoadMate 800 comes with some more advanced features such as an MP3 player and a photo viewer. In order to facilitate use of those two features the device comes with an internal battery that should last about two hours.

Another notable feature on the Magellan RoadMate 800 is the large POI database with over 6 million entries.
