IMHO, the problems with maps updates is not really if it's free but rather the cost. I was selling Garmin when I was a vendor not long ago and we always recommended to bypass one or two maps updates except for intense professional use. The little difference wasn't worth the price. I consider CN update to be a rip-off. I mean it's half the price of the full version! Yet the data difference is what, 5-10%? If it was 20$ I would consider it a fair price and would gladly update every times.

The maps are first verified and then serialized to the device they are installed on and cannot be shared.

I use the 2120 Max, but can't compare it to the 2100 Max (never used that one). What I'd like to know is how can Navigon (or any GPS provider) expect people to pay for map updates? Can't the files be shared?

Has anyone tried the 2120 Max? Is it really the same as the 2100 Max?
