NAVIGON Becomes #4

NAVIGON just announced that according to the NDP group, they were the number four GPS company in unit volume for the month of February. In getting to that position they captured 11.5% of market share. Most of that success appears to be due to the NAVIGON 2100 which was reportedly the second best selling GPS model in February. Not too shabby for only being in the North American market for about six months.

“NAVIGON provides more features that matter and we’re finding this is really resonating with consumers,” said Andreas Hecht, NAVIGON’s president for the Americas. “Our portfolio exemplifies that we put the customer first and that we invest a great deal of thought and energy into making them happy they purchased a NAVIGON.”

NAVIGON recently a new widescreen model to compliment the 2100, the 2100 MAX.

  1. I’m impressed with the Navigon 2100 not just because it’s accurate, but because it reads street names WITH intelligence…it’s not trying to cram the street name when you’re supposed to turn.

~20 seconds before you turn, it says, “In 150 feet, turn right on Main Street”.

At the intersection, it says “Turn right now”.

Other “dumb” devices say “Now turn right on Main Street”.

It’s a minor difference, but until you buy & return a number of devices to know the difference, you can’t appreciate the ease of complying with such well-thought instructions and density of information.
