Im using the ProClip iPhone dock, plugged into my car stereo.

I can play music through the car speakers and hear navigation commands through the car speakers. I do not need a cradle that carries sound, but I do need a cradle that charges. The USB from my stereo does also charge the iPhone.

I just spent 2 days in Big Sur with ZERO CELL phone reception.

Navigon worked FANTASTIC! I dont really see a big problem with the GPS chip in the iPhone, I never missed a turn using Navigon.

I have a lot of experience with Garmin Nuvi 350 and 765. I find the Navigon on iPhone almost as good as the n765.. multipoint routing is stronger on the Nuvi, but, really, I dont see a problem with the GPS reception on iPhone, so I dont think TomTom's audio/gps enhanced phone holder is all that necessary

I cant recommend enough how well it works to dock iPhone to the stereo through USB capable or iPhone capable cabling and docking.

Also, there is a benefit to a phone holder that does NOT use suction to the windshield, which is illegal in California..

hence for my money, proclip gets the job done, along with Navigon

Since Navigon is releasing a car kit, does that mean that they will probably not write code to make there app compatible with the tomtom car kit. If this car kit does not have a gps chip in it I would rather have tomtoms

That just seems like a fancy looking mount with no other utility as you said. I'm not sure why they would offer this since there are many others out there already. If the promised TT mount has all of its stated abilities this one would seem to be pointless.
