Nuvi 200 Series Firmware Updates

We know there are a ton of Nuvi 200 series (200, 250, 270) owners out there, so we’ll pass along news that Garmin has released a new update for models in that series. As usual, we’ve updated our product info pages with the new firmware version numbers, dates, and links. Version 2.90 is now available through your WebUpdater program and includes the following changes:

  • Added distance and time on route review map page
  • Added option for user to set home location from Recently Found list
  • Improved label display on map pages
  • Corrected display of address search results
  • Corrected issue when more than 255 custom POI categories are used
  • Corrected display of intersection names in Recently Found page
  • Corrected issue with off-road destinations
  • Corrected backlight setting north of Arctic Circle
  • Corrected issue with long road name labels on maps being truncated inadvertently

Unfortunately, I’m not near my PC right now to try the update. The Mac version of WebUpdater (still in beta) failed to properly install the update and I couldn’t get it to update under Parallels either. So it will still take me a couple of days to test out the update.

  1. I am considering buying a Garmin Nuvi 200, do you know if these kind of updates are free or do they have to be purchased?
