Concerning the Garmin, you mention satellites 30, 23 & 19 have the best reception. It should read 30,23 & 5 as satellite 19 is not on your screen. Thank you for your explanation about the Garmin screen---it cleared up some questions I had....Excellent job!!!

Thanks! This helps a lot. I've been staring at the satellite info screen on my garmin 765T from time to time and wondering what that red dot represented. the inner and outer circle definitions helped too.

John, That only works on some Nuvi models from Garmin. Other Garmin Nuvi devices, other Garmin models, and models from other manufacturers each have their own menu systems where that will not work.

One thing that some may find it hard to figure out how to pull up the 'satellite info' screen. The satellite info screen can be pulled up by holding down the satellite signal strength bars for about 2 seconds and then release.

Solo, the accuracy of the GPS system itself is about 10 meters (30 feet under good conditions. 20-40 feet is pretty good.

The accuracy number seems to be high most of the time (19 and >) how can that accuracy be improved?
