I'm VERY disappointed by the Shotgun's Traffic notification. It basically is useless.

Rob, aside from the first time turning it on when it is expected it will take longer, mine would typically have a fix within a minute or two.

My Shotgun arrived yesterday. so far so good. I LOVE the look the feel & the SIZE of this GPS! The performance is good so far after 1 solid day of usage. the "Send address to GPS" function from the web is AWESOME! One thing that I don't like is that it takes ~ 5 minutes after powering unit on for it to find a GPS signal. Is this normal?

Carmen, I'm not sure what you are referring to. This device is currently only available from TeleNav, not in stores. There is only one model, no 3.5" model. It does not have Bluetooth. Are you perhaps mistakingly referring to the Insignia devices? That better matches what you seem to be talking about, but not this device.

Tim, I have actually seen and played with this device in BestBuy and the 4.3 device DOES have bluetooth. The 3.5 version does not . the wide screen and the bluetooth seem to make up the difference in price between the tw -- which is $100.

Great review Tim.

I love the way the traffic alerts say what lanes are blocked etc even if the info is stale you can plan appropriately.

infama, there is only one map database on the device, Tele Atlas. The only time any NAVTEQ data comes into play is if you are searching from the website.

Yeah Tim, you were right about traffic!

Doug,

I agree that the Dash solution will be sought after if it can be adapted to high end stand alone PDAs like the TT 930.

The shotgun does have the 2 map access advantage for address searching. Its better to work from 2 independent data sets.

Too bad that the data system isn't sending your own traffic data back like Dash - I'd buy it in a second if it did, v1.0 product or not. I think the future of traffic data will be this two-way stuff, as well as easily seeing road status via color so at a glance you can see overall status of all the roadways like TrafficGuage. Thanks for the good review, Tim!
