I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE NOR ASSICIATED WITH THIS FARSE OF A COMPANY--TELE\TYPE--BIG RIP OFF---THIS IS A REAL AND TRUE BONIFIDE COMPLAINT--
Got the 7100 they said it was for truck, yeah right pick up trucks if your lucky. Nothing but problems. It is supposed to give haz mat routing and instead it sends you off the exit and back on the whole way down the interstate. WOW is that ever entertaining while your driving. Sends you to 11 foot bridges, down street and roads that do not exist and even tries to send you down a real cow path on a regular basis, It cannot calculate the miles correctly, constantly resets itself while i am driving, slow to recalculate, does not give turn buy turn when your on the road and changing laes in a big city, so then what does it do, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING well it does do one thing entertain me and drive me crazy, It is onky good to yell at when you get mad at the dumb cars on the road or really ticked at the gps itself. I bought it since they advertise it being designed for truckers and had haz mat routes in it, Well not one truck route yet and i am a year later. My husband decided that after I got lost one time too many that it may help me, heck i dont need a piece of techno crap to help me get lost i can do it just fine all by myself. I want my little garmin back at least she could find the addresses, and did not send me down cow paths ad roads that did not exist, What I really want is my almost 700 smackers returned and they can have this oiece of garbge. In rough economic times to create such a thing to take advantage of hard working drivers is a bunch of bull. I also hope someone will start a class action suit Maybe we can get lucky and a lawyer will read our complaints. HINT advertising is a touch subject if you say it is for trucks it better be, otherwise there is a legal name for it false advertisement, best return all our money before somdone gets smrt and files a class aciton suit. My next step is the BBB aside from all the drivers that I encounter daily informing thme to get the garmin not the teletype. I love it when i see them looking at that nice big screen and i waste no time in turning them to the other side of the cabinet to the garmin which I ahve heard is better, sure wish i had bought it and if i get my money back from this thing that is what i intend to buy a good reliable garmin. replies can be posted i will keep checking back.

My name is Joe. I am an actual driver and not a TeleType employee. I started driving for Sygma in Harrisburg, PA and now drive for Milton Trans in Milton, PA. If anyone doubts me, please feel free to have my IP address checked. I purchased a WorldNav 5100 Truck GPS in March of 2009. Since that time I have used several GPS units, especially during my time with Sygma. I have had many coworkers who use Garmin units, some with TomToms and some with WorldNav. Overall I will admit that I am satisfied with the unit. Most of the Garmin units that I have used have not had truck routing. The one coworker that had one of the Truck Routing Garmins was ready to get rid of it because he complained of it not knowing if many roads were restricted or not. I am not saying that my WorldNav is perfect though. I have noticed several times where it will have just an exit ramp labled as inaccessable to trucks when both the road I am on is truck ok and the road I am going to is ok. It has not, however, ever taken me on extra long or incorrect routes for my destination. My biggest complaint with the unit is the touch screen looses calibration from time to time. There are also some other features that I wish the unit had, such as bluetooth and traffic avoidance but I knew what I purchased when I purchased it. Will I replace it with another TeleType in the future should the unit fail? Maybe, maybe not. I have heard wonderful things about the CoPilot GPS units now available, and now Goodyear makes a truck GPS. But, I, as a professional driver, can honestly say that I have not personally experienced the horrors of so many on this board. Do I doubt those people, no. But, I cannot say that every unit is defective either. One thing that several seasoned drivers told me when I got my GPS that I think everyone needs to think about and realize. No piece of technology is fool proof. All GPS manufacturers with have a defective unit make it past quality control or they may have missed a bridge height, or maybe there was paving done that changed the clearance of an overpass. No matter what unit you use, always double check the route against a map or a mapquest. I do and so far I don't have any major complaints.

I dealt with these World Nav Sleze bags 2 years ago, I have an earlier post about one of their pieces of junk. Iowa80 and 4 State Trucks are peddaling these POS. I warned both places but they still sell them. They must make plenty on these pieces of junk.

Gunda60 In response to your conclusion about people who complain about World Nav per month. Your reasoning is flawed.Don't you know that most people who have been scammed do not bother to complain because they are too ashammed ????? So the people you calculated per month does not include the poor saps who don't bother to voice their complaint in a review such as this one. scammers like Teletype know this,,, and they run all the way to the bank with it. However, some of us who have been burned are willing to sound the alarm. Oh, by the way. I may be mistaken but you almost sound sympathetic toward Teletype/Ed & Marleen

My name is Allen Rubin. I say that first becasue the people at Teletype say that all the bad reviews on here are being placed by an unhappy ex employee. Thant may or may not be the case but in any event my experice is real and if anyone including the owners of teletype waht to speak wit me just put a note on her and I will conact youso that you know this is real.

I pursaed an updated card about a year ago that I had problems with. After sevral calls the rep at the company said that when the new version of the softwear comes out they wouls swithc cards with me hoping that would help the problem. When it never cam I called after several months and was told it wasent out yet ut would be mailed once it was. I forgot about it because I only use the GPS when I'm going on a trip. I called again today, the rep lookwed up my account, saw the notes in the system about sending me the new card and then came up with every reason why he wouldnt send it. I got fed up and said i don't want all the double talk, your comapny told me a year ago that they would send a new card, they never did, if your not going to send itjust tell me so I can get back to work. He said "I'm not going to talk about what they told you a year ago, I'm not sending you the new version". So there you have the customer sevice motto of Teletype "screw the customer". Need I say more. STAY AWAY FOR THIS COMPANY..This as to be the attitude of the owners other wise this type of customer treatmet would never be accepted. Again,I'm not the unhappy ex employee but an UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. If the owner are reading this look up my accunt info under my name., I'm in Illinois.

In brief, Worldnav 3100 is a piece junk is good for nothing not even for viewing picture. I am sorry that I bought this junk, I send it back for fix, came back the same junk so I gave up and I am getting Garmin.

The bottom lineis Ed and Marleen are criminals.

They continue to take people's money knowing full well their products are no good.

And calling what they sell "products" is a stretch.

As Jeff said above, "a dead horse would work better than this piece of junk. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM TELETYPE."

Someday someone will bring a lawsuit against Teletype Corp. Maybe before then Ed and Marleen will get right with their God.

I purchased this unit and have had nothing but problems. I try to get updates and they keep sending ones that don't work correctly. I call them about it and they say things like We have had a bad batch of SD cards sorry. Or Yes we heard about that problem and have resolved it only to send a new card with other problems. I got them to send me a different unit but the one they sent me to replace a brand new one was a used one. I was told that they will not work with me and they feel that they lived up to there end of service. I still have a unit that does not work correctly and is used ( there replacement ) I would stay as far away from this company as you can.
