TomTom Looney Tunes Voices

TomTom has announced a partnership with Warner Bros so that you can now get Looney Tunes™ voices on your TomTom GPS. Starting today you can add Bugs Bunny or Yosemite Sam to your TomTom GPS for about $13 each. Additional voices will be offered later in the Fall including Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Pepé Le Pew.

While fun, my own opinion is that these custom, “celebrity” voices just don’t hold my amusement for very long. After a day or so I just find them annoying– like hear a comedian do the same material over and over every night. For just how long will it be funny to hear Yosemite Sam say “Sharp left, ya humpbacked muley. Then go straight on. This ve-hicle ain’t big enough for the two of us!”? For a voice you might not use for very long $13 seems a bit steep. But if you’re interested, you can find the two released voices here.

  1. I’m guessing these aren’t TTS voices. If that is the case, I don’t expect them to catch on any better than the celebrity voices of a few years back. I wanna hear Yosemite Sam say “Turn right on Houston Street ya varmit!”

    • Correct– they are not Text-to-speech voices.
