TomTom Maps on Sale
I was doing a little research on the TomTom site this morning and noticed that they have put most of their maps on sale. Most of the maps are now being offered at 30% off. No new map release since a month or so ago, so x20 owners still can’t quite get a map new enough for IQ Routes, but it is still a good deal. It doesn’t apply to maps for NAVIGATOR 6, nor maps of Australia/New Zealand. And we’ve also noticed that it doesn’t seem to apply to devices like the TomTom Eclipse AVN2210p which is still showing the same price as it did a week or so ago. Still, if you’ve been thinking of updating your map, now might be a good time when you can save a little cash.
The sale is good through the end of July when presumably the next quarterly release would be available, and likely at full price. I get this question frequently so I’ll just answer it now– No, TomTom doesn’t expect people will update their maps every quarter, but by offering them quarterly rather than annually, you (statistically) will receive a newer map at your time of purchase they you would have if they were only offered annually. You get to decide when and how often to update your maps.
The next question becomes for those 720/920 owners who are looking forward to the possibility of getting IQ Routes and/or Active Lane Guidance… These maps don’t include those features for your device, but there is a chance the next release might… So save the 30% now, or gamble that the next release will include those features (likely at full price) around August 1. That is a risk/gamble you will have to decide if you’re willing to take.
I’m in Canada…trying to download TOMTOM GPS map of North America V 8.03 for my GO 720 (which I know will work), but cannot do so from US website because of our extra figure in Postal Code 6 characters vs US Zip Code 5 characters….Do have any other sites in mind I could use to download from??
The Canada site appears to allow postal codes with 6 characters.
I just bought a new map update for my Tom Tom. I took the old map out but the new one will not upload. Sometimes it will do nothing othertimes it says “Disk in the destination drive is full” What does that mean and how do I get my new map uploaded?? Thanks
“Destination drive is full” means that the TomTom doesn’t have enough space for the new maps. Sounds like you might need to drop by our forums for help or call TT support.

I did as suggested and purchased the map for the 930 when I logged on to tomtom home and tried to update the map I Purchased,a message said “This item cannot be install on your device. I assume that they are some how checking the device.
