MP3 Player for your TomTom GPS? This isn’t something that is officially supported by TomTom. However since some of the underlying software that powers the TomTom GPS systems falls under GPL, lots of different applications are possible if you want to take a crack at programming it yourself.

Thus a community called OpenTom has emerged to take advantage of the Linux core in the TomTom devices. Savvy developers have built an MP3 Player. The OpenTom MP3 Player application will work on the TomTom Go 700, 500, and classic. It hasn’t been tested on the TomTom Go 300, the TomTom ONE, nor the TomTom RIDER.

Make sure to backup your data/SD card before attempting to install the OpenTom MP3 Player!
