I have been using Tom Tom's Navigator 6 Software & Bluetooth GPS on the Palm TX for a while now and it has been working great. Tom Tom's website does mention that it will not be updating the Navigator 6 maps for this product. I recently used it for an east coast vacation and it got me out of some detours and real heavy traffic jams. Thanks Tom Tom.

I am using Navigator 4.11 and the Holux GR-230 GPS (palmOne PR-230) on my Zire 72. I have no interest in cell phone compatibilities BUT am interested in newer maps. Does anyone know if Navigator 6 will run on the Zire 72?

I have a GSM PalmOne Treo 650 and Navigator 6. I cannot get TomTom Home to recognise the device. Any ideas? I have tried everything I can think of, including reinstalling TomTom Home, soft reset of the Treo, etc.

Gunther, I'm not sure what you mean by their tech department being closed... I talk to them quite frequently. It depends on the manufacturer how you tell what version maps are on each device. They each have their own way of marking their maps. We do talk about other manufacturers and some of those you mentioned (Mio, Navman, Alpine, and Cobra) are listed in the links on the left.

Tim, I appreciate this forum. I read that Tom Tom's technical dept is closed till March How can one tell that an "off-the-shelf" GPS model that's several years old, has the newest maps on it? One reviewer was faced with having to purchase a new map base a few ays after he received his Tom Tom model.

That has to be a possible problem with all brands. When I buy a new computer I don't ask the salesman "does it have Win XP as an OS?

Why do you not mention Mio, Navman, Alpine, Clarion and Cobra in the column to the left? Maybe they're not popular but there could be a gem among them...

Thanks,

Follow-up to Anthony Jones's question of December 13, 2006. Is anyone using TomTom Navigator 6 on a Palm T/X? TomTom is of no help on this matter. They just refer you to their obviously incomplete compatibility list. Does anyone know the requirements for a Palm PDA to run Nav 6?

I just took back the Tom Tom 6 I bought for my Treo 700W. It was awful. I live in a Dallas suburb. I'd "POI" a restaurant in one city, it would say it was 6 miles away (correct), then navigate me to one 22 miles away. I have blue tooth in my car (which can't be disabled), I would use a regular headset because I know blue tooth can't support two devices. But everytime a call would come in the car would answer it and drop it. Marriotts are listed w/out addresses! How am I supposed to know which one I want if all it says is "Marriott Hotels and Resorts". I bought the Magellan 3050T for $400.00. It is much better for my use. I travel every week and was spending $10.00 per day on Neverlost. Now my Treo is back to normal.
