Top 15 GPS From Black Friday

Nov

2009

Black Friday has come and gone… we will miss you. But those of you looking to score some good deals today for Cyber Monday might be wondering what everyone picked for GPS on Black Friday. Here are the top selling GPS devices from this past Friday. We’ve also noted which models we think are a particularly good buy.

  1. Garmin Nuvi 265WT Top Pick
  2. Garmin Nuvi 255W
  3. TomTom XL 330S
  4. Garmin Nuvi 1300
  5. TomTom XL 340S Top Pick
  6. Garmin Nuvi 765T
  7. Garmin Nuvi 885T
  8. TomTom XL 330
  9. Garmin Nuvi 255
  10. TomTom XL 340
  11. Garmin Nuvi 755T
  12. Garmin Nuvi 780
  13. Magellan Roadmate 1440 Top Pick
  14. Garmin Nuvi 205W
  15. Garmin Nuvi 1350T

A few notable trends have developed over years past. First, only one device on the list doesn’t come with a widescreen display, the Nuvi 255. Even with the bargain hunters out on Black Friday the compact 3.5″ display devices were wholeheartedly rejected. The second thing to notice is that nearly every device that made the list comes with Text To Speech. (All have voice prompts.)

Garmin dominated the list with ten of the top fifteen selling GPS devices. TomTom placed two in the top five with four in the top fifteen, and Magellan squeezed into the list with the RoadMate 1440 in spot Lucky 13.

  1. Not a single TomTom GO or ONE… interesting.

    • Yeah… looking at the list they almost all fit a fairly narrow range of GPS products. Few of the “bare bones” devices, no “connected” devices, and few “advanced” devices. Almost all of them are near the middle with widescreen, TTS, etc. The more “advanced” the device is in the list the more likely it is a slightly older model (and thus discounted in price). The more recently released devices that made the list were lower priced.

And nice to see you here. :)

  2. Tim,

I haven’t seen the Garmin Nuvi 285WT on your list. What do you think about this model? I’ve seen one on sale and I’m thinking of purchasing it.

    Thanks for your insight.

  3. Lisa,

I went with the 265WT, I think that one of the difference was MSN was provided for 285 and not the 265.
The problem I have is that Garmin’s bluetooth feature is not compatible with my cell phone. Before you purchase your gps go on line to their site and look up the model of your phone. I wish I had.

    Good luck with your purchase,
    Ann

    • Thanks Ann
Yes I was worried about that and had checked with ATT and told them that I had the motorola kharma (one of their new phones) and would it work, they told me with Garmins it would. I am going to try to test ride one though and double check otherwise return within the time period.
Thanks for the heads up !! <>
