Yahoo Traffic in Rochester, Maine?

May

2008

Yahoo recently announced that they have expanded their real time traffic coverage to new markets and more detail in many existing markets. Normally I wouldn’t have found such an announcement to be incredibly noteworthy, however one quote caught my eye, being a native Mainer.

… we’ve expanded to a bunch of new markets from Bakersfield, CA to Rochester, ME …

Rochester, Maine? Where is that? Yahoo! Maps doesn’t appear to know either. What was interesting was a bunch of other low quality websites I found that seem to think there is a town called Rochester in Maine. If someone knows where Rochester, Maine is, please let me know. 😉

  3. Just avoid going westbound on Western Avenue weekdays between 4 and 6 pm and you will have all the traffic info you need for Manchester, Maine. 😉

  4. As a government employee involved with maps you may rest assured there is NO Rochester Maine. Rochester, New Hampshire or New York sure but no Maine.

  5. Wow maybe they are planning their own new city there. Disney made themselves some towns why not Yahoo. As a born and raised Mainah from Rockland, I sure hope they don’t bring in too many people from away. Though all you need to know about the Mid-Coast area is it is clear in winter but take different route in tourist season.
